Immigration Bail Bonds Lawyer in Los Angeles

What Are Immigration Bail Bonds?

Immigration Bail Bonds are the same as bail bonds in criminal cases. They are designed to provide insurance that the alien will attend all future court dates and do whatever the court demands.   Immigration bail bonds and criminal bail bonds are essentially the same. The only major difference is in who qualifies for the bonds.  To assist you in obtaining the information you need to bail out your loved one, contact the Law Offices of Carlos Barrios, experienced Immigration and Bail Bond Defense Attorneys in the Greater Los Angeles area.  While in criminal cases most individuals can post a bond unless they are a flight risk, under current Immigration laws there are several categories of people who do not qualify for an immigration bailbond.  The following individuals mustremain in custody (jail)and there is no possibility that they will be released with an immigration bailbond:

  • Aggravated felonies;
  • Gun or firearm convictions;
  • Controlled Substance convictions;
  • Two or more convictions for crimes involving moral turpitude.

Also, there are other categories of individuals that do qualify for an immigration bailbond but can be denied a bond if the Immigration Judge determines that they are a danger to the community or will not attend future court dates. They include:

  • Those who pose a threat to the community;
  • Those who have a record of past violent criminal convictions (i.e. several DUI’s or Domestic Violence);
  • Those who pose a flight risk and likely not return to court;
  • Those with a record of prior disregard for the legal system, such as warrants, failures to appear, failure to pay for fines etc.

Los Angeles Immigration Bail Bond Defense Lawyer

If one of your loved ones is currently detained by immigration, we can assist you in locating what detention center they are being held at.  We will need their “A” number in order to do this.  Our trusted attorneys will arrange for a court date in order to get them an immigration bailbond. Once the Immigration Judge has granted your loved one’s request for an immigration bail bond, the payment must be made at any of the Immigration Federal Buildings throughout the United States. The amount of the bond must be provided in a cashier check, bank check, or money order.   If you do not have access to the complete amount of money that is required for the immigration bailbond, then you can utilize the services of a bond agent (also known as a bonds-man). A bond agent will do the following:

  • Charge you 15% of the total of the bond amount;
  • Require you to secure the remaining balance of the bond with equity, such as with a house or credit card;
  • Pay for the immigration bailbond at the nearest federal building.

You will be entitled to receive the money back so long as the alien does what they are supposed to (i.e. go to court, or leave the country if ordered to do so). If there are no complications, you will receive a check from the Federal Government about 2-3 weeks after the final hearing.

With the expertise the Law Offices of Carlos Barrios has in the Immigration Law area, we can assure you of qualified representation in handling your immigration bail bonds needs.  We will do everything in our power to secure the release of your loved one as quickly as possible.  Call us today for a confidential free consultation.
